|
We provide qualified translators who possess extensive knowledge of translation to meet the unique requirements of each assignment. All of our translations are edited and go through our Quality Control Process.
Our network of hundreds of professionals means we can arrange teams of all native speakers in your target languages and have the relevant subject area experience, whilst meeting deadlines. |
|
Our professional translators not only translate the meaning of words, but adapt every element of a project or service, be it a document, software package or presentation, to the cultural and technical environment of a specific locale. We understand the importance of your product meeting usability requirements of the target audience and language, involving cultural awareness and technical expertise.
By using translators trained in these processes, CENTURY TRANSLATIONS offers a very high level of localisation service and we are very happy to discuss general issues or details of a specific project with clients, so that we can determine how to supply the best solution available. |
|
CENTURY TRANSLATIONS offers a fast and professional audio transcription service, converting a spoken language source into the written form. Your completed transcripts will be returned in accordance with your instructions. For an additional charge, we can also insert time coding to indicate each change of speaker. For quick turnaround and accuracy, we can provide a transcription service for most languages in WAP and MP3 files, as well as conventional tapes and CDs. We can also provide transcription into Braille. |
|
We provide high quality lip-sync dubbing for TV and radio commercials, as well as broadcast and industrial narrations or commercial trailer files. We also provide narration for numerous industrial and multimedia projects and telephone prompts. |
|
Many of your documents and files require typesetting as part of the translation and localisation process. CENTURY Translations has professional in-house typesetting staff with rich experience, who work to the highest professional standards and specifications to help prepare your work for immediate publication or printing. |
|
To ensure consistent, accurate copy, we provide two levels of proofreading to allow the message to have maximum effect in the target language.
The FIRST is proofreading by a specialist linguist to help ensure that the copy is complete and error free.
The SECOND is the independent checking of the translation by a second mother tongue translator. This service is highly recommended for documents intended for publication. It covers grammar, style and semantics as well as accuracy in translation.
No matter what content or language, we will work with you to create the best-customised workflow and ensure your content is as accurate as possible.
Further, we will work with any kind of document to produce a document geared to your target audience. |
|
CENTURY TRANSLATIONS provides the means for businesses and organisations to foster amicable relations with their international counterparts. We do this by providing the necessary interpretation services covering business meetings, seminars, conferences, press conferences and any other situations in which effective communication mandates the use of a linguistic intermediary. With our extensive experience in helping our clients find the products and services they need, negotiating their target service, we are confident that when you choose us it makes a vital difference to the success of your international ventures.
We will only choose interpreters who are native speakers and additionally, hold qualifications in, or have more than five years experience within their specialist field of interpreting. When we receive an assignment, we always analyse our extensive interpreter profiles to select the most experienced person in that field who best qualified to carry out your interpreting assignment.
We can assure you that we have the solution to fit your needs, whatever the interpreting situation is. |
Simultaneous Interpreting |
Our simultaneous interpreting services allow you to have your message heard in conferences, meetings, international seminars and other venues.
Our simultaneous interpreters are skilled and experienced in listening to a message delivered in one language and interpreting the message in real time, making international communication possible in any setting. They work in pairs using state of the art simultaneous interpretation equipment to ensure the success of your event. |
Consecutive Interpreting |
As the most common face-to-face form of interpreting, the interpreter is required to wait for a suitable break before interpreting for the audience. Our experienced consecutive interpreters will express all the contents completely, accurately and eloquently by taking notes while the speaker speaks. As experts, they are able to use their highly developed memory, founded on many years of professional training, to render the same and equally accurate speech in another language. |
Conference Interpreting |
For this kind of interpreting, the interpreter will be on site. The physical presence of the professional interpreter not only provides the source language interpretation, but also transfers the sensitivity into the cultural context and body language of the parties involved, allowing the most accurate face to face interpreting in those given circumstances. Whether to use consecutive or simultaneous interpreting will depend on the customer requirement, as well as balancing the need for speed and accuracy. |

Back Translations
Back Translation is the process of translating a document that has already been translated into a target language back to the original language, preferably by an independent translator. In a normal translation process, the translator translates the document; an editor then reviews the translation and makes corrections.
Back translation is done to ensure the reliability and validity of translation in different languages. The back translation and the original documents can then be compared.
However care must be taken NOT to expect a matching back translated document. A literal word in one language, for example, may have no equivalent in another language. This is why translation is an art rather than a science. No translation can be expected to convey perfectly the "meaning" of what author meant to convey in the original language.
However, the back translator must have excellent command of the target language as well as the English language (a rare, if not impossible, combination) and perform a more literal translation than normal. The original authors of the document then compare the original and back-translated documents.
The aim of back translation is to achieve different language versions of the English documents that are conceptually equivalent in each of the target language. That is, the document should be equally natural and acceptable and should practically perform in the same way. The focus should be on cross-cultural and conceptual, rather than on linguistic/literal equivalence.
Implementation of this method includes the following steps:
|
Forward translation |
|
Back-translation |
|
Comparison |
|
Editing |
|
Corrections, modifications |
